Oceanside Surf Lessons for the Family is one of the best vacation activities for visitors. When you are going to a beach town know for surfing, why not learn to surf.

The great thing about surf lessons is everyone is together. Everyone learns in waist deep water and no one gets left behind. It is someone everyone can do and its a match for who is better the kids or the parents.

Dry Land and Entering the Water

Lessons start out on the sand with dry land instructions. Students learn safety and handling their surf board so it doesn’t hit them. Then students practice the pop up they will execute in the water to stand up.

In the water, students learn how to roll onto their surfboard as the foam wave approaches and paddle to catch a wave. Students are pushed into the waves at the beginning by the instructor. After they have shown they can paddle, pop up and ride to the beach, they start catching their own waves.

Students who progress can start paddling out through the foam waves to turn around and catch bigger ones. If the student is doing well, they can start catching real waves that are 2′ to 3′. In Oceanside surf lessons for families, those who advance are still not far from those riding foam waves to the beach. Every year when families return they can start with a lesson and then once again let everyone seek their own level.
